Microblading faq’s

Microblading

Its a  tattooing technique which uses a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles . Microblading differs from standard eyebrow tattooing, a form of permanent makeup, as each hair stroke is created by hand with a blade that creates fine slices in the skin, whereas eyebrow tattoos are done with a tattoo machine
It deposits pigment into the upper region of the dermis, so it fades more rapidly than traditional tattoos. This technique is ideal for someone who has experienced some hair loss & wants to achieve very natural looking brows.

Microblading permanent makeup faq’s

Are you certified and licensed to operate?

Yes! Jennifique Lashes Brows & Beauty is a licensed tattoo studio and Jennifer is a Certified Permanent Makeup Artist (PMU). She has received a hands-on apprenticeship and received certification from one or more Permanent Makeup Artists.
Jennifer has also received extensive training and certification in Blood Borne Pathogens as deemed necessary for tattoo artists by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It’s crucial that you choose not only a Certified Permanent Makeup Artist (PMU) but also a Licensed and Insured one to ensure your health is protected!

Does IT HURT?

Every client is different and pain tolerance varies by client. Most clients describe the pain level as minimal and find tweezing and threading more uncomfortable. I use the best topical lidocaine gel available to minimize discomfort. That being said, this is still a tattoo. You will typically feel some discomfort. Based on experience, we would describe the feeling of slight burning, astringent like sensation. Very tolerable and worth it!

How long does it last?

This will vary by client. If aftercare instructions are followed diligently, your new brows will last approximately 24 months on average before they’re mostly faded; 18 months is average. For some people, their brows will last even longer, and some less. Certain factors such as sun exposure and tanning beds, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, bleeding, etc., will affect whether your brows will last on the higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months. We recommend one touch up per year to keep them fresh. Coming more often increases the risk for scar tissue or causing your brows to look unnatural.

Do I need to shave or wax brows?

No! l will shape your eyebrows as needed with shaving and/or tweezing and choose a color pigment that blends seamlessly with your natural brows. If you have a lot of brows it may be useful to have your brows waxed several days before your appointment – but that is optional.

How are Microblading Brows Different than a traditional Brow Tattoo?

The most common type of traditional eyebrow tattoos involves the use of a lot of pigment and a block style brow, which leaves the client with a dark outlined eyebrow and no depth. These often fade to really unflattering colors.
Jennifique Lashes Brow’s & Beauty services leave the client with natural-looking eyebrows that look real! Careful selection of pigment is chosen to give depth and shape so that the natural brow hairs and permanent makeup blend seamlessly.
Note that everything I do looks natural, but all permanent makeup is still a tattoo. There are just dozens of techniques

How long does it take?

The process takes two-three hours from the moment you walk in the door to the completion of your beautiful new brows. The first hour or so is spent designing your new brows and numbing the area. There is no downtime! Occasionally, some clients will have some slight redness and swelling around the area which is very normal and will subside within a couple of hours. Most clients go on about their normal day when they leave their appointment.

How long is the Healing Process?

Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so, depending on the client. Your new brows will appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will heal. This is especially true for days 2-5. This is harder for some clients than others. Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don’t like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That’s normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your face. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows with lightning and soften. This process takes about 7 days or so on average.

It’s important to follow all aftercare instructions and to attend the required follow-up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows!
Your healing is only about 50% in our control. Once you leave it’s up to you to be diligent about following the instructions you’re given to get the best result! And no matter how great they look, it’s important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result. This is a two-step process, so even if you have something you want to tweak after the first appointment No Worries! We will continue to work on your brows at the touch-up appointment.

Will they look natural?

Absolutely! Your brows can be as big and bold or as soft and subtle as you like!

What if my brows are fading quicker than I like?

We will revisit aftercare and lifestyle to make sure that is not the issue. If not, it’s likely that you need to go darker and fuller at your touch up.

What if I have concerns after they are healed?

Complete customer satisfaction is our goal! If you have concerns about your brows after they’ve healed please call us right away so that we can discuss. We are here to help so don’t be shy!

Are there some clients who cant retain pigment?

Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly affect skin healing. It’s very rare, but it’s important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases, there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, we will recommend a third appointment to further touch the brows up if the client is retaining some pigment after the first touch up, however, anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further permanent makeup.

who is a good candidate for powder brows

The simple answer is, anyone that wants to have full, beautiful brows all day, every day!

That would include busy parents or business people who don’t have much time to apply brow makeup, active people who don’t want to worry about sweating off makeup while working out or swimming, or any person who struggles with getting that perfect shape that the celebrities and YouTube makeup artists always seem to have.

Let Jennifique Lashes Brows & Beauty do all the work for you!

Microblade healing process

What are the Stages of the Microblade Healing Process? Usually, there are 6 stages of the Microblade process, and some of them may be very annoying.

Stage 1 – dark and swollen freshly done Microblade

Stage 2 – scabbing

Stage 3 – light and patchy eyebrows

Stage 4 – the color returns

Stage 5 – touch up

Stage 6 – full recovery

You will most likely go through all of them, but some might not be as intense, while others can be worrying. Inform yourself what is normal and what is not and contact your artist if something does not look common and worries you too much.

Days 1-2
The powder brows treatment is fresh, which means that your brows will probably be red and swollen. Also, they look like a block of color and the pigment is too dark. What you need to do is to calm down and stop checking them every five minutes. Also, you mustn’t touch them or wash them. If advised by your esthetician, just blot your eyebrows with a clean, dry cloth.

Days 3-4
The color will fade a little bit, but it is still far from the final look. Your eyebrows have just started to heal. If the redness is still present and intense and your brows are itchy, ask your artist to check if this is usual.

Days 5-7
The annoying scabbing stage starts. Some people’s powder brows will scab more than others, which is normal because everybody heals differently. Some itchiness is also normal but you are not allowed to scratch your brows. You might ruin the treatment. Powder brows usually scab in one big or a few big pieces.
Some scabbing is normal, but if you experience extensive scabbing, contact your powder brows artist immediately.

Days 8-10
The scabbing stage is done and your eyebrows might look patchy and too light. Don’t freak out and think that your powder brows disappeared! They appear too light because your skin forms new layers over the pigment. The color will come back and the touch up will fix up the patches.

Days 11-28
The hardest period is behind you and now you can be more relaxed even though your eyebrows haven’t taken their final shape yet. You can start wearing makeup and go back to your everyday routine. Still, try not to sweat too much and spend too much time in the sun.

Days 28-42
Your brows are completely healed. They will probably look great much earlier, right after the first touch up. The first touch up is mandatory and you should not skip it. Its purpose is to fix all the irregularities and change what you are unsatisfied with.

Microblade AFTERCARE

It usually takes around 7-10 days for the skin to heal, however, you should follow the aftercare until the skin is fully healed. Your skin is healed when all flaking and scabbing is gone.

DAY OF TREATMENT: ABSORB

With medium pressure, blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every five minutes until oozing has stopped, however long that takes. Removing this fluid prevents the hardening of lymph, thus helping to prevent scabbing. Blot, blot, blot!

DAY 2-10 (until the scabbing stops): CLEANSE & MOISTURIZE

Gently rinse your eyebrows each morning and night with water and gentle soap (ex. Dial, baby shampoo, Dove, Cetaphil.) With a very light touch, use your clean fingertips to gently cleanse brows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 5-10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is removed. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue or let air dry. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliates.

Healing with little to no aftercare ointment is best! You should only apply Aquaphor if you are extremely itchy and uncomfortable. If so, you you can apply a rice grain amount of aqua for with a cotton swab and spread it over affected area as needed. Be sure not to over apply as this will suffocate skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put ointment on wet or damp tattoo.

Do not rub or pick at your brows. This can cause scarring or infection. Should there be any scabbing, let them fall off naturally.
